When You Hit A Plateau

image

I KNOW I need to step my game up! Any changes in eating habits or workouts, you’ll know it. I’m aware of the changes my body is going through. Slow down your activity as you get older, the results will catch up with you.

I finally got my favorite detox tea and I’m able to share the mantras or daily quotes on the tea bag. More water is needed for consumption. The change during this journey is that I walk more when a car isn’t needed to get to a destination. I feel as if I’ve lost ten pounds or more-wishful thinking LOL

If it were easy, everyone who desires a healthier lifestyle would be able to break the plateau. I haven’t lost any more weight which means I need to work more on my eating habits and get more strength training. My dumbbells can’t pick themselves up. Besides, I’ve been talking about how I want my arms to look like the First Lady of the United States. That’s motivation for me! LOL

This is a short blog post since I delayed it for a couple of days. That’s another goal of mine: to regularly post by Sunday, no later than Tuesday of each week. As I write, I’m standing outside and it’s a beautiful day. How can ANYONE handle work or be inside on a day like this? As our First Lady Michelle Obama says in her health initiative, “Let’s Move!”

Reflections…Just Because (Four-Year Anniversary Edition)

Ironically, today is the four-year anniversary of my blog. Interestingly enough, that day was Mother’s Day. The year before that, I graduated with a Master’s degree. I went home the weekend before graduation, literally six months to the day when God called on my mother. My family couldn’t make it to the commencement, so we had a family gathering. One of my sorority sisters and a childhood friend came over; then my Dad. A joyous occasion, but I know I still miss my Mom.

As the song goes, “My soul looks back and wonder how I got over.” I’m not where I want to be in my professional or personal life…yet. I’m grateful that I’m not where I USED to be. Still working on my good form while pursuing and maintaining a healthier lifestyle.  There have been challenges along my journey, but with grace and mercy, I’ve gotten through them. I learn more about myself each day and I hope that I make my mother proud of me as she enjoys her eternal celebration.

Forward in faith….

This anniversary blog post is dedicated in honor and memory of the one who inspired me to write it: Catherine Davis Richardson. I love you, Mom!

Still Working My Good Form…In Spite Of…

So I still have that compliment imprinted in my head from a couple of weeks ago. A man who opened a door for me asked if I were a power walker, then told me that I have good form. Since then, I find myself working on my form while I walk. I hold my head high, not slouching over when I walk uphill.

I’ve gained more motivation to get this weight off that I don’t need. I went to the grocery store to purchase healthy food items. Looking forward to getting back to my green smoothies again! I also need to get some detox tea.

I definitely want to look better before summer so I will start on my smoothies and I’ve incorporated more walking in my day using public transportation. My lower body and arms definitely get a workout!

I’ve already envisioned myself being on the beach this summer with a swimsuit and a coverup to match. You can watch me as I walk on the sand. I can’t wait!
