Oh muscles, you have been missed! I realized it when I worked out for over an hour while listening to Vusiclive! I had a blast! The music is always energetic and fun on “Workout Thursdays”. Did I work up a serious sweat? Sure did! But oh, my muscles are sore. I felt it first in my triceps and the sides of my waist, so I got a core workout too! It’s Monday, 8/18 at 6:40am and I’m still recuperating.
Move on to Saturday and Sunday, 8/16 and 8/17 respectively. I was able to purchase a desk and a 4-drawer chest. I had no help to get it into the apartment, so I pulled my car up to the basement-level door; pulled out both boxes; slid them both to the elevator and got them up to the apartment. Did I break a sweat? Yes I did! I believe my muscles received a wake-up call. I spent a lot of time assembling both items for two days. My muscles are sore! Did I stretch? Absolutely! I’ll eventually stain the chest to match the desk. Couldn’t pass up a sale LOL!
It’s now 6:52am and I’m grateful to God for another day. I was able to buy healthy food. It’s nine days left until my birthday. I hope to be consistent. I’m proud of the fact that I DID work out but OH my muscles…no longer a spring chicken LOL! I must keep it moving to see what else God has for me. In the meantime, I’ll recuperate.
Two classics regarding muscles – watch with caution LOL

When God tries to tell you something, try to listen. Even when it’s time to get ready for the day, take the time to check in with him; trust and never doubt.
A lot of scripture that I’ve read about or sung in the music ministry recently reflects on trust and faith. I continue to have challenges but it doesn’t stop me from moving forward, even if situations seem bleak. I’ve had my moments of a workout (here-and-there) but consistency is the key. I’ve also started drinking my green tea without sugar substitutes; either agave nectar (if available) or a dash of fresh lemon juice. Let’s see if I can do without bread
I know that I’ve seen a lot of people—particularly in social media—share their journey to a healthier lifestyle. No one said it was easy. There’s no one set method for anyone to follow for health fitness; the journey is different for everyone.
Don’t give up! Continue to dream and have the mindset to change your outlook so that you can change your outcome. I’m counting down the days until my birthday and I’m excited about it! I know that God has something better for me if I continue to move forward and trust him! Watch me…..

This blog post and last video is in memory of Michael Brown, who lived in the St. Louis, MO Community of Ferguson. Another young man lost to senseless violence. Prayers go out to his family.

I’ve been inspired by listening to T.D. Jakes and his two-part sermon this past week!

I still deal with the challenges of fast food and getting in a consistent routine of healthier eating. During this time, I still try to eat healthy and incorporate walking (exercise) into my routine
I had opposition try to take control of my journey. The best thing to do is continue to stay positive. I was laid off from work as of July 21, 2014. The desire to reposition myself is becoming so evident in my dreams while looking for employment. In addition, I had a neighbor whose kids kept running around in the apartment above us. It was a complete noise disruption for over a month! I wrote letters to property management and the issue wasn’t addressed. Unfortunately, I ended up reporting it to the police. I now as of Saturday morning (8/2) have peace. I can actually meditate in silence.
I made a decision to change my way of thinking and continue to ask God for wisdom and understanding to get through this journey. I’ve submitted applications; changing eating habits; incorporating more exercise in my day while hitting the ‘virtual pavement’; continuing to pray and move forward in faith.
It’s interesting to know that today’s readings focused on how God answers prayers. The Psalm response is “The hand of the Lord feeds us. He answers all our needs.” (Psalm 145:8-9, 15-6, 17-18). The Gospel reflected on Jesus feeding over 5,000 people, not including women and children. The disciples were quick to send everyone home to get food for themselves. How many times that we as human beings are quick to give up, not realizing or having the faith to ‘stay the course’ and complete the task? We may miss out on the benefits when ‘doing our best’ then God taking care of the rest!
I wear shades and move forward in faith!
