Not Giving Up Without A Fight

I make a declaration right now: GOD, GRANT ME THE STRENGTH TO STAY AWAY FROM FAST FOOD! The very thing I enjoy is a harm to my body. I really have to step up on my water intake and my strength training.

These past couple of weeks have been interesting. I’ve managed to get in a form of cardio in some way. For example, a couple of weeks ago, I went to Baltimore to the annual Baltimore African American Music Festival. I got some cardio because we did a park & ride with taking the light rail to Camden Yards. When we got there, we saw an artist perform before the one we wanted to see: Mint Condition.  Overall, there was a lot of walking. I need new sneakers—wedge or a pair of New Balance. My flat feet and my biuts of swelling ankles can’t take it.

It’s a journey that I declared in 2011: to pursue and maintain a healthier lifestyle. I’ve noticed that I’m not able to move around as I did before so I must continue to keep the body moving and eat better. The saying still holds true that “Abs are made in the kitchen.”
Next Sunday (July 6, 2014) will be a very special edition of my blog. I have to be mentally, physically, and spiritually prepared to even write it. I may write it early then post it specifically for Sunday.

No matter what, I’m not giving up without a fight!

New Beginnings (Father’s Day Edition)

It’s hard to fathom that I’ve missed two weeks of posting my blog! So much has been going on and my health journey has been challenged in the process.

As of May 31, 2014, I moved to another place. It’s been a blessing to actually LIVE in the same state where you work LOL. I like the place. It’s taking time to actually settle in. I just put up my dining room table that was disassembled. Of course I’ll need help to lift the glass on the frame. I’m getting my roommate LOL!

It’s been a journey moving all our stuff to a new place. Several items were thrown out or given away to Goodwill or another charity. My left ankle hasn’t been the same. As I get older, I really have to be careful.  I think I’ve overextended myself with the move. This with the addition of lymphedema, it’s not good. Challenges arise but I have to continue to stay positive and keep pushing!

I was finally able to go to my NOW favorite store to get some fresh fruits and vegetables. I need to get back on my healthier routine. I saw a couple of pictures that I was in and I didn’t like what I see. Work REALLY needs to be done! I spent less than $40 on getting food into my refrigerator. What a saving!

As I was getting work done on my car, I managed to get a 1.5-mile walk in. In addition, I had to park my car at a further distance so that was another opportunity to walk. I’m still on the journey and I haven’t forgotten!

I wish for the men who follow and read my blog—if you are a father or a father-figure,  HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!
