Just the other day, I told myfitnesspal app that I was gone too long! I went home for the first and only time this year, and my stepmother’s sister commented that I gained weight. Whyyyy did I need to hear that? Lol
During the new beginning of 2013, it definitely wasn’t easy. I decided to get on a fitness plan with a friend who is a certified fitness trainer. The plan of working out and eating small meals a day before 6pm truly worked! Consistency is the key! I need to get back to that..
For the spring and summer months, I would take advantage of the nicer days to walk and there’s a fitness center in my apartment community. I haven’t been over there since it’s renovation. Guess I need to try out my new sneakers and find out what’s going on over there. I no longer have the red New Balance shoes due to wearing them out; I had to throw them out. Support and affordable prices is my mantra when it comes to new shoes! I also had to go for therapy after being diagnosed with Stage 1 lymphedema. The fluid is not circulating properly around my body so all the more reason to lose weight. As I officially began this blog on May 8, 2011, I said that I didn’t want to become the next family statistic. The way I’ve been behaving these last couple of months show otherwise.
I still deal with the professional and personal challenges of the fall season, namely experiencing the ‘government shutdown’ that sent me out of work for almost three weeks. I took advantage of the sunny days and walked from home to the waterfront and it gave me time to think; to see things that I didn’t before. As I sit here and type my last blog post for 2013, I’m thinking of what 2014 will have in store for me in terms of my health. I need to redo my ‘vision board’ and I’ve been having a reoccurring dream. All I can do is ask God for peace, clarity, and wisdom for better decision-making as I recommit myself to this health fitness journey. I’ll continue to share my journey and you’ll hopefully see better things to come!
I still celebrate Christmas until January 6th so excuse me if I continue to share some good cheer. We are going to WIN IN 2014!
Right now, some of the United States are going through unusual changes in the weather. Who would’ve thought that one day is 70 degrees then the next day, the high is around 40 degrees?!?! People are having bouts of sinus infections, colds, sore throats, flu….you name it! I had a hunger/stress headache earlier last week. Ouch!
During this season of Advent, we wear the color purple, meaning change. In some faith communities, it symbolizes the wait of Jesus to be born, so you’ll hear text or Bible scriptures that relate to change, preparation, and the outcome. It’s a wintry mix outside but that doesn’t stop me from pursuing and maintaining a healthier lifestyle. I still move forward and I’m aware that obstacles will try to distract me from what I know is better for my health.
I still walk while commuting to work via public transit. I’m grateful that I CAN do this! If I were still living at home, you either have a car; carpool or take a cab. Public transit isn’t as extensive as where I live now!
In the spirit of Advent, continue to prepare yourself with a good health regime and know when you’re able to make changes, whether in eating habits or a workout routine. Change is good! I got a reminder in a quote as to why I should continue, even through the seasonal changes (weather or life):
Every time you stay out late; every time you sleep in; every time you miss a workout; every time you don’t give 100%–You make it that much easier for me to beat you.”
Come into your season NOW! Why wait? Get moving!
This week’s blog post will be an impromptu poem from the heart:
I’ve had many setbacks but that doesn’t mean I won’t make a comeback. Living life is my motivation so I will continue to say:
I AM GOING TO WIN!
God is my help and has been a constant friend. He said he would be with me until the very end. I hope he will allow me to see HIS plan and be a blessing to someone else, not just myself:
I AM GOING TO WIN!
Maintenance of a healthy body isn’t easy and can’t be done overnight. You must prepare your meals; have consistent exercise and strive to do it just right. Your mind is focused on a better life for yourself and for others. God allows us a time on earth to be with each other:
I AM GOING TO WIN
Start out small and keep it going! You want your good habits to keep growing! Knowledge is power when it comes to your health. The more you continue this journey, you might inspire someone else!
Whenever the doubtful voice tries to permeate your vibe, just repeat to yourself:
I AM GOING TO WIN
And I just like this song! I like to move!
