I am so excited! I’m about to turn it up a notch for real and get “jiggy with it” (as the young people say LOL)
My Zumba Fitness Kit came in the mail on 12/29/2011. As the saying goes: “Why put off tomorrow for what you can do today?” I began this workout on last night. I am reviewing the entire kit (can’t wait to get to the toning sticks). I was learning the Zumba basics and will follow the program that is outlined in the kit. In terms of the suggested meal plan, that’s something I will have to modify or truly budget to purchase the items needed.
As an added bonus, I am showing my video that I recorded with my camera of me working out. Trust me, it’s not the quality of the DVD, but this lets you know how serious I am to making this program work.
I actually feel a little sore but it’s a good type of soreness. There were some muscles that need CONSISTENT movement (LOL). Of course the “inspiration” for the blog post title, you can view it for yourself. If the language is too much, then you can stop the video and wait for my next post 🙂
I was sitting here writing in my journal (yes, I do keep one) and thinking about the phrase “Do it like there’s no tomorrow“. Of course, some people can put that phrase into a different context.
With all the “human commotion” of the Christmas season, I haven’t lost sight of what I want to accomplish for pursuing & maintaining a healthier lifestyle. However, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, and New Year celebrations are some good ways to eat more than expected. Trust me, I’m no saint when it comes to the holiday luncheons or snacks offered by co-workers, friends, or family members. How CAN anyone think abou eating healthy during a time like this? (LOL)
Speaking of lunch, my office held its annual Holiday Luncheon at an Italian restaurant. My boss likes this particular establishment, because we can all sit together and fellowship in a private seating area. One colleague wasn’t able to join us. I had a meal that consisted of angel hair pasta with broccoli and an olive oil butter sauce. It was DELICIOUS! All I had to drink was water. The bread was good, too (ALL too good – LOL). What I want to add is that since the restaurant wasn’t too far from our building, the majority of us walked to and from it. So I factored about a 20-minute walk in both directions. We were in conversation along the way, sharing our holiday plans. Our boss paid for our lunch (that’s the 2nd year in a row – LOL).
Now that I will have some vacation time (and some money in my pocket) I’m determined to buy that Zumba kit or get with a personal trainer for cardio and strength training. Besides, I set myself a goal and I MUST walk the walk. This wasn’t something that just occurred. With all the health scares in the news–especially within my own generation–it’s a motivator and a wake-up call to “haul my butt in gear”–literally (LOL).
I encourage those who are reading this post right now to get motivated or continue to pursue a healthier lifestyle. In the long run, your body will thank you for it. Keep the mind, body, and spirit active in a positive light. Do it like there’s no tomorrow!

So many things have occurred in my personal/professional life that I wonder “Will it all end and will I get a breakthrough?” It seems as if every time I take a step forward, I take two steps back. Something inside of me says that I will NOT give up. Not without the Most High fighting my battle!
I broke down and hit the drive-thru restaurants again (I was in and out of different activities going on and haven’t been in my kitchen as much this past week). I recorded two videos of myself and they were too long for the “new YouTube” so I’ll have to do them over again. Now the weather is changing and it really feels like a late fall or early winter. Since it’s the holidays, I’ve been around too much food (not enough healthy eating).
When I woke up this morning, I envisioned myself -25 pounds or more before my high school class reunion, any trips that I will be able to take, and just plain healthy. I can’t continue to live with the additional weight, so I’m recommitting myself and revising goals. As I’ve said in a previous blog post, I want to be able to not only turn heads but break necks! My life depends on it! I wouldn’t mind getting back in form in the next picture you’re about to see and continue to be “The Biggest Loser”
Starting this evening, I’ll work out. Dance always motivates me, so it will either be the hip hop cardio or the latin dance (I’m determined to purchase a Zumba kit LOL). A new goal to add to the list is to get into some nice jeans. You know, a pair that doesn’t poke out in the back by the waist or the kind where you can only get your leg in. I’d have to be a size 6 or 4 to wear skinny jeans LOL.
I need to devise a walking plan for outside. It’s too early in the morning and the only time I have during the week is at work. I’m stepping out on faith in that if I concentrate on small steps, everything else in my life will fall into place. The goal is to be consistent in what I commit to. I REFUSE to quit!
